Here's my mallard assassin! matsosian@gmail.com
Mallard Assassin
I wanted to go with a comic book style but contrast the front with the back using heavy OSL.
Assassin Mallard , to ostatnie co widzisz przed śmiercią
"Danger Duck from the Dark, in the Park"
Hand-painted in acrylics. He has a hard time doing his job, being a former icon of Saturday morning cartoons. When you're a champion of what's right, you find a way.
Our intrepid mallard in the midst of an ambush against the banshee. I've used oil paints to paint the mini

Shrouded in the shadow of a forgotten archway, Makandre of Demi-Bay descends like a silent storm, twin blades glinting with purpose. Cloaked in tattered black, eyes focused beneath his hood, he is no longer the overlooked son of a distant baron — he is judgment given form. He once lived in marble halls, where words were sharp but actions dulled by protocol. But when his unworthy brother was named heir, Makandre turned his back on a life of silk and silver. The world was rotting at its edges, and someone had to cut out the infection. Now, far from the halls of his childhood, his mission brings him to Valebrim, a place where fog clings like guilt and evil festers in quiet corners. His target tonight: a petty lord who bleeds the marshfolk dry with taxes and threats. The people whisper of hope, never daring to act. But Makandre acts. He doesn’t kill for coin. He kills for balance, for those who can’t strike back. He moves like water and shadow, blades honed not just with metal, but with purpose. A protector. A fury barely caged. Steel sings in the dark. Honor dives, and justice strikes with an open beak.
The terror that flaps in the night - I'm sure I'm not the only one, but this gave major Darkwing Duck vibes, so I had to do his color scheme.
"I am the Nat 1 that ruins your perfect evil plan!” I am the mimic in the treasure chest of justice! I am the assassin that flaps in the night! I am Duckblade the Daring!"
Łoj, ciekawe życie skrytobójcy który wpada w szał jak nie trafi za pierwszym razem😁. Teraz Nieuchwytny Kwrczar uchwycony przez naszego reportera periodyku " Nasi Bohaterowie"
Mallarad Jump in the tunnel
In the cold black night, the mallard assassin waits patiently to drop upon his unexpected victim. The poor soul has no time to scream, as the assassin's shadow falls from above and makes sure that no one will hear the prey's gurgles coming from his open throat. Another bounty taken care of...
Printed on ELEGOO Mars 5 Ultra with gray TGM-7 resin, painted with acrylic and stained with sepia and black oil wash, stands 3.25 inches tall. - "Let's get dangerous..."
Backstory: Quack Norris, a mallard assassin who strikes without warning, his webbed feet make no sound on wet stone. Raised in the swamp dojo of Master Pond-Li, master of the art Duck-Fu. Whispered tails of Quack Norris are starting to spread far and wide, tails of how he once kicked a troll so hard it became two goblins. Or how he can split an arrow mid-flight with his beak. Nothing will get in the way of Quack Norris...Nothing.
Moody lighting for gloomy assassin. Kept it a bit brighter and not so grim as it could lean towards.
Dragonbane Painting Contest
Fun piece for a awesome game. Really took a quack at it with this one.
i am the terror that flaps in the night... i am shadow-wing mallard!
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Duck
"What Darkness Quacks in the Night?!"
This Noir Assassin slinks around the city in the darkest depths of night hunting his foes. He’s not afraid of getting caught, and he never shies away from getting his hands (and feet) dirty. [100% Brush Painted]
Mallard Assassin painted in a Grimduck style.
Running from or diving into danger? This mallard assassin leans into the mirth and mayhem that comes from taking on uptight and stoic drakar! I'm imagining the terrain behind the mallard is falling apart from drakens wrath as he bounces away, jumping from debris and lampposts before making his next move! It's probably a faux pas on my part not to show the base, but I love the expression on this mini's face and how dynamic the pose is. I wanted to show those features and chose this odd angle without the base.
here is my take on the mallard assassin. had a lot of fun with this trying to push the osl and painting the light bleeding through the tattered cape.
Leaping from the shadows, a blur in the lamplight the mallard attacks!
wanted to keep things darker, some overhead moonlight with osl coming from the lamp behind and glowing through the cloak
Night is my natural habitat. Chance to kill, to steal, to silence someone. Chance to escape after well executed job...
Tried to take Darkwing Duck for inspiration
Painting done with a brush and OSL with an airbrush. NMM applied to the blades, stippling on the leather and cover. I imagined the Mallard in a dark environment, hiding the streetlight.
Hello! I figured everyone would paint it as osl so i tried a different approach. The bulb is missing leaving the lamp empty and trasparent.
"The Chase" by BaneOfMorgothMiniatures
Mallard Assassin went on a mission during a thunderstorm. Hope you enjoy it!)
Miniature, base and background are all hand painted and designed. The base and the diorama are handmade using glue, cardboard and metal wires. The tiles are made of cork. A little context for the scene : *The night had fallen on the on the city's port. Almost all of the streets were lit by the faint glow of the moon and by the few lamp poles. The only sounds were the sounds of the water far below and occasionally, the squeaking of seagulls. The night tasted the salty air of the sea.* *All was still, especially the vague outline hidden on the house roof. It has been hours now. But it's target would eventually show itself. Irina checked her daggers as a reflex. The blades unsheathing themselves fluidly without a sound.* *Suddenly she remained still, frozen in her movement. Someone was walking down the stairs, from upper town. She looked for a moment, to check if it was her target. Her eyes narrowed once she was sure of it. A moment later, she jumped from the room in a creak of her leather cape. As she fell, she leaned briefly against the lamppost, the shine of the night sky reflected on her blades, betraying her intentions.*
Some OSL elements + rain effects using resin and acrylics. going for a gritty night-alley vibe.

Dragonbane competition
I wouldn't want to meet this feathery foul assassin in a dark alley.
Dragonbane Mallard.
Darkwing Duck inspired assassin
The Mandarin, the last mallard assassin, ambushing a royal guard. After the systematic murder of all his kin in the great banquet, this young duck swore vengeance on the emperor of Hell's Scullery, Golden Ramesses. The Mandarin will ensure his foes regret leaving this duck raw...
A little "target practice" on an unsuspecting pumpkin. I loved the mallard assassin promotional art for Dragonbane at GenCon when the game was announced and I knew if a miniature was ever produced that I would want to paint it. I was excited this year to find the Northern Beasts campaign included a miniature of this vicious little guy and couldn't wait to paint him! I've done my best to reproduce the ancient green tones in the art that inspired me.
Duck of the night
Just barely finished this one in time! Here’s my Dragonbane, caught in the exact moment it leaps from the roof of a tavern, ready to strike its unsuspecting victim. This whole project was a bit of a rush, but I’m really happy with how it turned out in the end. Everything was printed on an FDM printer using a 0.15 mm nozzle and a 0.04 mm layer height. I wanted to play around with lighting this time, so I built the whole scene around the idea of a single lantern casting light in the dark. The result is a bright cone of light that highlights only a few parts of the diorama, while the rest stays very dark and minimal to really bring out the contrast and atmosphere. For the setup, I used two Stranger – Townfolks figures by Titan Forge to add some life to the scene. The building itself is the Medieval Town House by Kirouac, with a tavern sign from Store Signs by Antigone Miniatures, and the lantern model comes from Marvel Crisis Protocol Base and Street Lamp by np-dev. It was a fun challenge to bring all these elements together and try to make it feel like a living, breathing moment frozen in time.
my take on this beautiful model. the edges of the cape broke off cause i clumsily dropped it a day before the deadline with not enough time to fix it, hence the missing parts
So much nostalgia from Drakar och Demoner! A joy to paint! Inks with airbrush, followed by oil painting.
Dropping over the edge of the bridge heading into the sewers ready for whatever awaits.
I used the at from the book as a bit of inspiration. Wish I had been able to budget some more time for this one but I'm looking forward to getting around to painting all the other amazing miniatures from this set.
Darkwing.
Lamplight assassination (Painted with a combination of wet, dry, and air brushing)
Drake Mallard's alter ego: Moon Knight Or if you prefer... Assassin Mallard apart of the Assassin Brotherhood.
My first attempt at cel shading on a mini, I'm happy with the way the shading came out especially on the hood and cloak. The mallard assassin mid flight as seen from the pages of a comic book.
This was an incredibly fun miniature to paint, and I ended up spending way longer than I initially expected as it reminded me of DuckTales. I loved the dynamic jumping pose and could picture an awesome scene in my head of the mallard dashing through the night following its unsuspecting victim. It was also really fun to paint the vivid OSL coming from the lamppost. I will definitely be using this model for my next RPG game which will probably be Dragonbane seeing how cool the game seems. In addition, I have written a small (not really that small I got carried away), short story/backstory about my character which I have tried to represent through my painting: “The Quack in the Dark” Quillshadow was never like the others… While his fellow mallards laughed and splashed around amongst the reeds in the clear shallow waters of his town pond, he stayed alone pondering his greater meaning in the world. His town was beautiful, home to one of the most incredible ponds known the world. People would travel thousands of miles through fields and mountain just to view its beauty and taste some of the greatest seafood that had ever touched their tastebuds. It was full of mallards bartering fish and other goods in simple reed huts. It flourished until one day, when the water turned from crystal blue to a deep crimson blood red. Mercenaries came, and suddenly the town was in ruins, the mallards were all gone, his family never to be seen again. Somehow, he was able to hide, but he was not left unchanged. The laughter of that dark night haunted him for years on end, turning him into the mallard he is today. He hid, from humans for years on end, mastering patience, stillness, and the ability to vanish from plain sight, all for revenge. Eventually he started to strike on unsuspecting victims honing his skills, slowly becoming a renowned assassin, who had only ever been seen in short glances. He marked his kills on his walls, but eventually the wall was completely filled. Wanted posters lined a plethora of cities, a huge bounty was placed on his head, but barely anyone ever got a glance, never mind caught him. Finally, he decided it was time to vanquish his greatest enemies the mercenaries who spilt blood on his town. He had found them in the darkest alleyways. Slowly one by one he dropped down from the skies, blending in with his dark blue cape, showing only for a second in the bright fiery lights of the lampposts. He had finished his mission finally he understood his meaning in life. Revenge. From them on he took deals, finishing them swiftly killing some of the greediest merchants and kings across kingdoms, but his goal wasn’t riches but instead to rid the world of evil, yet he knew his tale would never be told in a fair light. He would always be the villain. As time passed, he engraved his name into children’s tales. Parents would warn their children to come back before night telling them that they never saw him coming. Few ever did. The only sign of his kills was a quack in the dark but by then it was too late.
Jess the Mallard is back. Back home to kick butt and take back the night, To return Crest back to the hometown they remember. Now overrun with the blight of the night. Jess has taken the night to clean up the town, now overgrown and going to ruin be, it by themself with their enchanted dule blades. Assassin for hire by day and town hero by night. This is my first miniature and enjoyed every moment of painting it, adding the final touches of grass and moss to bring the base to life
Hey! This is my diorama of the Mallard Assassins aerial attack against an unknowing trader. I used blender to remove the light pole from the original model and printed both the mallard and the trader in resin. The rest is PLA, wood and foam. For the street light I soldered wires from a flickering tealight diode to a CR2025 batteri the runs under the diorama and out the back. I made this in about two days and I was so much fun. I hope you guys like it.
