So this was a big one. I know I said I was only going to make 4 minis, but I originally thought I would be able to use the gladiator as a pawn. Obviously a gladiator has absolutely no business 1000 years later in Feudal times, so I made the pawn a knight!

I put a lot of detail in these, so even if you are not a chess player, they stand alone as individual models. Although I feel the king and queen make too cute a couple to not print together. 😉

I like to play chess, and one thing that bothers me about more high-design abstract chess pieces, is that you can't always tell which pieces are which. Sacrificing a knight to get an opponents queen just to find out it was a bishop...DOH! So I did my best to make it as obvious as possible what every piece is. I know there will be requests for a board, however, I made these as an accessory to your favorite 15x15 board. As you can see in the photos, the combinations of colors is limitless.  I thank my wife for the awesome painting job on the large ones, which were printed at 300%. The rook (castle) is printed at 400% and makes a great display!

Printing Tips and info:

If you are printing with AMS and you want a good skin color, I recommend using one that has no transparency because on top layers darker colors may blead through. I did some tricks to greatly minimize this, but it can still occur. I used: ESun Beige
For top layers of the face I recommend using a variable layer height to minimize layer lines.
When printed at 100%, it is designed to fit on a 15x15 board.
I print with 3 walls, 15% infill, .12 layer height, gyroid infill. Please adjust your settings for your machine and materials.
