Description
One of the four groups commissioned for the "river" of the park of Marly, it makes pendant to the top of the cascade to the statue of the Marne. The plaster model was installed in 1699, and the marble model was executed in 1706. Seized at the Parc de Marly in 1796, the group decorated the park of Saint-Cloud from 1801 to 1872. The inscription "Le Rhône" placed on the plinth is apocryphal.
