Clang was born to a family of eccentrics in the chaotic village of Quirky Creek. Whether someone thought it was a good idea to settle right next to the ancient fae forest or the kingdom simply needed an exile destination for some of its more colorful citizens, all new arrivals felt right at home after a while. Well, as much as you can feel right at home in a place without a single fully healthy mind in it. And if someone did look perfectly sane - they were the ones you had to really watch out for.
But don't get it wrong, Clang didn't have any particularly violent upbringing. On the contrary, she grew up on tales of valiant adventurers roaming the lands and helping those in need. Except, the sort of tales she heard weren't born by any healthy mind and would likely confuse or outright terrify most regular listeners - not that Clang had any idea about it.
Still, a life in a remote chaotic village was far from safe, and Clang brought many scars through her youth. Each scar told a story - like the time she tried to ride a raging pet rock off a hill. Or when she incited a rebellion of her family's domesticated porcupines.
Despite her rough exterior, Clang had a heart of gold and an insatiable drive towards adventure. After a particularly disastrous family experiment involving a meat catapult and a barrel of tomatoes, she decided it was time to leave Quirky Creek and carve her own path. With her trusty axe, which she affectionately named "Choppy," and a sickle she found in a dump pile, she set off into the world. She was so exited she couldn't even be bothered to wash off the tomato splatters off her body in fear it would also wash off her chance to leave the village.
Her attire was a sight to behold - an mix of spiky metal armor pieces, a few pieces of cloth wrapped around her private parts that her aunt insisted were "fashion-forward" , all held together with a few chains, because no true adventurer can ever underestimate the importance of a good rusty chain. Add to that an assortment of scars that made her look like a battle-hardened warrior — if battle had involved a lot of unfortunate accidents. Lastly, her uncle taught her the proper road encounter etiquette - take out your weapons and spread the arms to sides to show everyone you are not hiding anything dangerous. And don't forget a friendly scowl to put their minds at ease. Now, imagine the faces of the road patrol when they heard the sounds of clanging chains coming from the path to "the loony village", then saw an scowling woman in a bold apparel, completely covered in scars and blood splatters, slowly walking towards them with weapons at the ready. Fighting bandits is one thing, but can you really blame them for dropping their weapons then and there and issuing a tactical retreat for reinforcements?
And that's how the story of Clang was born.
