Saergar Davrum (My Forgotten Realms character) Early Life Born 1382 DR in Citadel Adbar to Gardu and Saera Davrum. He has one sister Greda who still lives in Citadel Adbar. Both he and his sister were raised as blacksmiths by their parents. His sister still works in Adbar as a smith. Both parents died during an orc raid. After their death Saegar joined the Citadel Adbar army at the age of 52. Army Service Served in the Adbar heavy infantry, the Stalwart 23rd “Stubborn as Mountain Rams”, and was promoted to being a flank guard due to his above average height. He specialized in wielding a great double bladed axe to discourage enemies from attacking the flanks of the formation. During his service he met a beautiful and fierce young warrior with fiery red hair and eyes with a stern jaw, Thaelyn Laestone. She rose in rank as well and became the unit’s banner maiden. After 50 years of campaigning Saegar and Thaelyn married and looked forward to days of peace when they could start a family. That happy ending was not to be. They joined the campaign to retake Gauntlgrym and during a fierce battle their unit was decimated by fire. After Saegar recovered from the attack, dispatching no less than 12 orcs before another unit charged in to drive off the assaulting force, and turned back to see dozens of his comrades wounded, dead, or dying he panicked. Rushing to where his wife should have been and searching frantically he only found her sword and a burned scrap of the clan banner. “Retirement” After the devastation to the 23r and victory in Gauntlgrym the survivors were granted the option to join a new unit or take a modest pension and retire. Saegar chose the pension having no desire to start over. After many years of living between his small room and the closest tavern his pension ran out. Not long after he had drunken violent dispute over an unpaid bill, then falling asleep, half naked, and clutching his wife's sword in the middle of a public square. After ending up in jail for a few months he sobered up and realized where his life was heading. He resolved to change. He left Gauntlgrym, partly to move on with his new life, partly to escape from the judging stares and haunting memories, and began a new career as a sell-sword. Personality He is methodical and considered outside of combat and favours caution however when battle calls he will not waiver in being the wall between the enemy and companions. This is in contrast to how he was in his youth when he fought on the flanks of infantry formations with fury and force. Now he wields a shield and his wife's sword with care and precision, placing himself between his companions and foes at any cost.
