Descripción
This colossal head of a bearded man is a copy of a sculpture housed in the Pio-Clementino Museum (Vatican Museums). The work is believed to be a sea god, featuring a crown and horns.
In the man's beard there are two round shapes, believed to be testicles. This ties can allude to the idea that the bust is identifyable as Uranus, whos genitals were severed and thrown into the sea. The foam from his genitals gave rise to Aphrodite (hence her name, 'foam-arisen').
