It is said that Fire Jotunn are born from the heart of dying volcanoes. But Vulkarion, the first of his kind, was different.
During a catastrophic battle between Omuba, Lord of Fire, and Holmuran, Lord of Water, in the First Era, Omuba’s index finger was severed. The blazing fragment fell into Mundus, piercing deep into the earth until it reached the magma, carving one of the many great entrances into the Depths.
This smoldering relic, known as the Finger of Omuba, was discovered by the Dumlok, who kept it as a sacred relic and prayed to it for five centuries. When the divine flame finally faded, it did not vanish. From its ashes, Vulkarion was born—the first Fire Jotunn, and the mightiest.
He emerged in a storm of fire and destruction, burning everything around him. But upon seeing the Dumlok—the dwarves who had kept vigil over the embers of his creation—he spared them. Recognizing their devotion, Vulkarion claimed them as his servants rather than his victims. In return, the Dumlok swore eternal allegiance to the son of their god, a divine alliance forged in molten stone and blood.
Together, they waged war across the Depths, crushing all who opposed them. But the balance shifted when the Tyrant-God Tialevor offered Vulkarion a new purpose: to become Overlord of the Depths, ruling above even the hated Slathaai, if he aided in the conquest of the surface. With the Dumlok now allied to their former enemies, the pact was sealed.
Now a Herald of the Tyrant, Vulkarion’s next task is to destroy the reborn Sacred Tree Yaldain, a relic of life hidden in the Forest of Arba, fiercely protected by the Arverians and the ancient forest dragon Feythornaax. To test the strength of his daughter, Vulkarion decreed that she would be the one to carry out this task.
