Description
The medallion in the centre of the basin is decorated with the head of Medusa. The basin, like its pendant, was once part of the decoration of thermae (baths) or a fountain.
Cardinal Alessandro Albani (1692-1779) placed them in his Roman villa in the centre of the so-called Marcus Aurelius atrium.
