Henry still remembers the day when his father took him to watch the troops march through their village. The vibrant blue of their uniforms, the shiny gold, the sun glistening on the spears and muskets... He remembers it like it was yesterday. He spent hours watching them, long after everyone else had left. A couple of them shouted jokes at him, and a general on a mighty horse even gave him a nod! The next day, Henry ran away, followed the regiment and volunteered. He has been an army man ever since, and 30 years later the fire in his chest is still burning strong. The life of a soldier may not always be so shiny and glorious as he imagined as a child, but Henry is ready to go wherever the emperor sends him.
