A nomadic Sun Elf priestess who has wandered the desert guided by the will of Glanion for decades. While relatively young by Elven standards, Ilisyia’s wisdom is built upon generations of wise women bound to Glanion’s service, like herself. Her mother and mother’s before them were the matriarchs of the freefolk tribes, those who under Glanion’s guidance ensured their people’s legacy during the trying times of Sudd Tohst’s desertification.
In the years that the Beremni first settled in the desert that is now Idinhelieth’s Sands, it was dotted with fruitful oases. These verdant havens housed dozens of distinct tribes of Sun Elves who had left their homeland in Nan Thalias after the Schism of the Dormeni, when the Elves disillusioned by their leadership spread across the continent in search of their own paths. The Sun Elves, those who chose to place their worship in Glanion rather than the Tharameni, adopted a matriarchal culture after settling. To them, the Mother was the First One, thus motherhood was treated with a special reverence and respect that was placed above all else. Motherless women were, thusly, scorned and shamed. The more fruitful a woman, in the eyes of the Sun Elves, the greater her worth.
Those who were most fruitful of all were the matriarchal Priestesses of Glanion, many who would birth dozens of children over the course of their long lives. Their wisdom, thus, was seen as unparalleled. Ilisyia is descended from such women, and though the correlation of fruitful loins and wisdom is considered antiquated by modern standards, the Sun Elf nomads still hold matriarchal values that place motherhood as one of the highest forms of respect. It is the wisdom of the mother that is passed down to their children and children’s children: disseminated through the tribes to bring unity through knowledge. Knowledge passed upon them in prayers and seances to Glanion. When the waters of the desert began to dry, it was these priestesses who guided their people through the perilous times, persevering centuries later.
Whilst Ilisyia has yet to face such a trial of her own, she stands upon the precipice of one. False pretenders, she has been told, have infiltrated the city of Hinatal, Glanion’s most reverent place of worship. Thus she has left her children behind with her tribe, travelling to the city where she seeks further guidance from Glanion to shine his radiant light upon the schemers, and aid her city-borne kin in rooting out the evil that has festered within their walls.

This model was painted for DM Stash's March Open Palette Painting Challenge. I picked this model because I am continuing to work on my skin tones and she has lots of skin showing. I'm continuing to work on pushing contrast, blending, and adding in glazes to make the skin feel more alive. This was also my first time trying to paint a sand looking base. I am really happy with the results!
