Description
This figurative group shows Dionysus, the god of wine, theatre and pleasure, hugging a satyr - a mythological woodland creature who is half goat, half man. Satyrs were main members of Dionysus' retinue, the so-called Thiasus, alongside nymphs and, later, maenads, the god's female human devotees.
