Description
The Girl with the Conch Shell (Fr. Jeune Fille à la Coquille) is a near lifesize marble sculpture made slightly after Carpeaux's sculpture of a similar theme "Neapolitan Fisherboy" (MIN 1437). The work was actually just a study piece, with the artist having no intention to have it in a pair with its older brother. The works were acquired by Empress Eugénie and have been kept together since.
