March of 2020 undoubtedly changed my life. For the past 10 years, I had been a performer with Cirque du Soleil, where you could find me nightly on the “Mystere” stage in Las Vegas. Out of nowhere, the pandemic ripped all of that away - my job, career, and the entire live entertainment industry vanished overnight.

None of us knew at the time how long the shut down would last. Would we be back to work in a month? A year? Never? Two months into the pandemic, I pivoted and decided to try and sustain myself for the first time using my decades of Fine Art experience as a sculptor and creator.

Thus, “VoidRealm Minis” was born. I channeled a lifelong love of strange, psychedelic monsters with my affinity for board games and tabletop miniatures to create a unique line of 3D-printable creatures. I was thrilled to discover an industry where indie voices could thrive, where I could keep my flair for cosmic horror, inventive monster design, and play to my strengths without bending to the will of an Art Director or production pipeline.

I come from the world of Fine Art and Performance - NOT from the video game design or movie industry. Thus, my workflow and pipeline are somewhat unique - I sculpt most of my work in Virtual Reality and like to focus on original creatures that inspire GMs and players to fold into their own homebrew campaigns and stories.

While my Lovecraftian Outer Gods like Nyarlathotep and Hastur have been some of the most popular VoidRealms designs, I am finding a lot of enthusiasm for my original creations like the “Oldmother” as well.

This month marks the first Anniversary of VoidRealm Minis as a professional endeavor, and I am so overwhelmingly grateful for the community’s support and enthusiasm over this past year. Even though our Cirque du Soleil show has returned and I’m performing again on stage, I believe the pandemic enabled me to discover my true passion as a creator, one that can sustain me both creatively and financially for years to come.

The pandemic took many things away from many of us, but if there was any light in the darkness for me, it’s that the VoidRealms were born and will continue to spawn bizarre monsters and cosmic horrors for all of you.
