Hello everyone from the MMF community! I'm happy to announce that yesterday we've chosen which of the miniatures from July's release will make it into the painting contest. The chosen one was the catfolk gladiator!

Here's some inspirational background for you to get in the mood when painting!:

This ferocious warrior is ready to fight for his life on the arena. He has already overcomed every other gladiator that has dared to step on his way to the top. At first he was just a common folk at the wrong place, wrong time - He recieved a letter from a friend urging help. This friend wanted to meet him on his home that same day. When he got there, he found his friend dead. Before he could even react, all the sudden the city guards came in and arrested him. There was no trial, he was sentenced to death on the arena for a crime he didn't commit. With no weapons, just his bared hands in cuffs against two twins of promising fighters that were seeking for some easy coin in the arena. Instead of surrendering his life to the inevitable, he took his chains and strangled them to death one by one. The whole arena stood up in a thunderous acclamation. From that day on he has keept his chains with him every fight. A year has past and his influence has grown as well as the amount of scars on his body. His name and story had traveled to the ears of one of the most important merchants from the black market. Today, his masters that have some troubling relations with the criminal circle of town have recieved a letter, they want him dead. The town folk loves him. That's why they can't just make him dissapear out of the blue, he has gain to much appreciation and power beteween the people in town. Having him assassinated or poisoned would cause more problems and a further investigation from the authorities. They have prepared an impossible confrontation for him, promising him freedom if he by any chance overcomes the challenge. A fight to death between him and four young and hungry velociraptors. The day of reckoning has come.

Behind the desing of the miniature

I wanted for this miniature to tell a story. That's why I added some details that may not stood at first glance but that are there in order to improve the feel and design of the model.

As you have read on the background story of the catfolk gladiator, he's wearing the chains from this inaugural fight around his waist. His hair has grown longer, a year has past since he started fighting for his freedom. An assimetrical armor maked from the pieces of the still usable wears from his adversaries. I've added a wooden oval shield typical from the tropical lands he's fighiting on. Scars around his body. A battered sword for his last fight that may look he has a chance from the distance where the town is looking at the fight, but in reality as useful as a fork when stabbing the hard scaled skin from the velociraptors.

From now on you can print and paint this miniature in order to participate the painting contest! To participate you just have to post a photo of your painting on the Roleplaying Miniatures community Discord (Painting contest section). You have until day 25th in order to do so. On day 26th Roleplaying Miniatures community will vote for their favourite one! Soon after the winners will be announced and their prizes delivered.

When the painting contest ends this same miniature (The catfolk gladiator) will be released for free (Spoiler: he did overcome the four velociraptors) for everyone in the MMF community to print and paint it! I'm very excited to see what can you do with your paintings!
